In this fun, hands-on and virtual introductory robotics workshop, students ages 10 to 15 will learn the basics about robots. Students will receive a brief overview of robotics and then spend time coding a robot to play the rock-paper-scissors game. Students will learn basic coding constructs such as event handlers, variables, conditionals and randomness while using Microsoft MakeCode and a micro:bit simulator. A computer with internet connection is required as students will be receiving instruction via virtual meeting software and coding the robot at the same time. Experience with a keyboard and mouse and multitasking in multiple applications and windows is helpful, but not required. Prior coding experience is also helpful, but not required.
